Melissa is a New Jersey-based children's author and illustrator. She makes stories for babies through early teens including: board books, picture books and middle grade novels and graphic novels. When writing and illustrating, Melissa loves creating books with scientific themes, running with ideas borne out of learning about animal behavior—or just making something a little bit wacky and funny.
Melissa has worked in the pharmaceutical microbiology industry and has degrees in marine biology, visual arts and web design. She has also taken many online courses in illustration and surface pattern design and studied writing through various workshops, webinars and self-study.
